History of Haripur, Pakistan^[1]

• 1822; Haripur was founded by the Sikh Empire general Hari Singh Nalwa.
• 1835, December 23; Haripur was visited by Baron Hugal.
• 1851; The 4th (Hazara) Mountain Battery was formed by gunners from the Hazara region. The men were trained by Major James Abbott, a British officer and first deputy commissioner of Hazara, Pakistan.
• 1901; the population was 5,578.
• 1974; The parliament establishes the Allama Iqbal Open University.^[2]
• 2000; the population was 52,361.
• 2008; The Haripur campus of the Hazara University was opened.^[3]

• 1902, January 30: Japan signs the Anglo-Japanese Alliance. The alliance was renewed and extended in scope in 1905 and 1911, before its demise in 1921. It was officially terminated in 1923.

New technology has been created, America has risen to prominence as an economic power and new countries are forming in Europe and the Middle East.
