May 18, 1864: Butterfield`s (3d) div., 20th A.C. [Army Corps] and Maj. Gen. Hooker, [Federal] in person, Field`s Mill, reached this rd. 1/4 mi. W., entoute to the J. McDow house 2 mi. S. of Adairsville.

Schofield`s 23d A.C., [Federal] having marched from Field`s, camped here until dawn of the 19th, then moved S.W. by mill and spring. The route led through Little Prairie (possibly Pleasant Valley) and joined old 41 Highway at the McDow house, arriving there shortly after the 20th A.C. had moved southward.
