Harker's Attack Marker  


Brig. Gen. Charles G. Harker rode into mounted on a white horse while leading a column of eight Union regiments. In previous battles, Harker had four horse killed under him but escaped injury. Intense Confederate fire broke the Union attack and the survivors fled to a ravine 100 yards to your front. General Harker, a conspicuous target while rallying his troops, was shot from his horse mortally wounded. No further attacks took place at this location.
