Text:

This was the home of the Rev. Peter James Bryant and, later Antoine Graves.

Here Bryant wrote sermons he delivered as pastor of Wheat Street Baptist Church. He also worked as associate editor of The Voice of the Negro, a national literary magazine.

Antoine Graves, who later occupied the house, became a successful real estate agent and worked hard to help blacks integrate residential districts on Atlanta's West Side.

A dynamic orator and writer, the Rev. Peter James Bryant (left) was an early advocate of political and social rights for blacks.

Though he assisted blacks in moving into newer neighborhoods, Antoine Graves (below) chose to reside in the Sweet Auburn community until his death.
