Historic Markers Across South CarolinaEdmund Jenkins
Text: Edmund Jenkins, a veteran of World War I, was the first elected black Town Marshal in Mount Pleasant, and served the Town from 1920-1927. He died December 26, 1930. His gravestone is directly to the left of this marker. The public housing facility built in 1952 located two blocks north is named the Edmund Jenkins Homes in his memory. Erected 2006 |
