One mile north is the site of Hayne Hall, ancestral home of the Hayne family in South Carolina, owned during the Revolution by Colonel Isaac Hayne (Sept. 23, 1745-Aug. 4, 1781) planter, iron manufacturer, church leader, patriot and soldier, who was buried at his home here after his execution by the British. His grave is in the family plot.
