Established by John Harding, 1806, on site of Dunham's Station, Cumberland Settlements. This house was built after the first mansion burned in 1853. Here, on one of Tennessee's great plantations, William Giles Harding founded one of the earliest Thoroughbred horse nurseries in the U.S.; his son-in-law, Gen. Wm. H. Jackson, brought it to international prominence. Its great days ended in 1904. Since 1954, it has been Headquarters of the Assn. for Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities.
