Text:

About 1 mile E. was the principal town of the Cherokee Nation when South Carolina traders visited it in the 17th Century. Chief Moytoy, who made treaty with the British in 1730, ruled from here. Christian Priber also came here in 1738, trying to found a Utopian colony. 500 yards south and west was the smaller village of Chatuga.
