Isaac Hammer

Marker ID: THC 1A 64
Location: u.s. 23, Washington County, on outskirts of Johnson City
County: Washington
Waymark: None

This pioneer settler from Pennsylvania, a minister of the Church of the Brethren, built a two-story log house in 1793, which stands .2 mile northwest on the Old Stage Road. While not actually an inn, the house was often a stopping place for travelers along the stage road. Hammer is buried on the hill above the house.
